Scruffy bit of fluff!

With big feet

A lovely sunny walk this morning though there was a touch of coolness first thing (7.00am)

I was alone at the feeding station but there were plenty of ducks. The swans and cygnets couldn’t be bothered getting up but I was concentrating on feeding the Moorhen as the last two weeks I’ve watched it take food over to it's young on the edge of the pond. Not so today, the youngster came out to join mum. Very cute.
There was another bit of fluff amongst the branches on the other side of the pond, a bit scary as this is not only where the Moorhens seem to nest but, according to Wilsden Walker, it is also where the Terrapins come out of the water!

Think I spotted two more ducklings but they stayed away from the throng of ducks being fed. There was a very stroppy Coot fighting everybody. The Coot’s nest is very clear to see on a structure out in the pond but as yet no young have emerged. Hope they do sometime soon as they are so wonderfully ugly.

Another nice day. Met Chris, after his second funeral of the week, for his free birthday drink at the village pub where we sat outside. Happy birthday Chris you only share your birthday with the whole of the USA.
Happy Fourth of July y’all!

(Heard the loud squawking again in St Ives so it can’t have been Elvis as I saw him in the garden centre yesterday - needs investigating - must be an Elvis impersonator!)
