Quails!

It was another beautiful sunny day today but thankfully quite a bit cooler than yesterday!

After church I ran a few errands and ended up at my dear friend Dorothea’s house. Dorothea and family were Dolly’s faithful and loving dog-sitters - for about 10 years. Dolly’s second home. I miss seeing her and the family so it was great to pay a visit today.

Dorothea’s daughter Stephanie has recently been raising quails. They arrived as eggs - most of which hatched successfully, though not all of them survived. These are the three female quails and she also has two males who are kept separately. It was lovely to see them and learn all about them. Stephanie is a gentle and knowledgable quail mum!  Our family has a well-loved book, a true story about a quail - ‘That Quail, Robert’ - so I recently bought her a copy and dropped it off for her to enjoy. I hope she likes it!  Any animal lover would!

Besides meeting the quails, all 3 of us had a delicious afternoon ‘cream tea’. Dorothea baked scones specially for my visit and we devoured them - with clotted cream and jam - while sitting outside. See Extra photo.

There was lots of reminiscing about Dolly. We all miss her so much. Dorothea and Stephanie occasionally look after a couple of other dogs now which is nice for them.
