Puppy visit!

This morning we went to visit the puppies. Thankfully the breeder is only about an hour away, as so many breeders are in Scotland or Northern England that it could have been a long drive for us!

As expected, the puppies were adorable. They were all awake in a large pen in the living room, and we were able to take them out and play with them. They eventually fell asleep in our arms, at one point all five of us had a pup asleep in our arms or on our laps. Mama dog was so friendly and did not mind us handling her puppies, and she sat watching from the comfort of the sofa.

The puppies are 4 weeks old - when they are 6 weeks old the breeder will do a personality test to determine which puppy should go to which family. Two of the female puppies are going to homes where their half brothers live (from mama dog's first litter) and so the breeder said it would be best to choose the biggest females to go to those home so they can cope with the lively male dogs. It suits us fine as I requested the smallest dog, which she said we could probably get. The first born, yet the smallest, is Miss Red, who is big on personality and is mischievous, and the next smallest is Miss Green so we possibly could be getting one of those. We really don't mind as they are all adorable and I could not really tell the difference between them. We spent ages talking to the breeder about training and diet and I feel much clearer about how I will be doing things. The puppy is coming home on the 1st or 2nd August.

We also found out that one of the litter is going to a home 10 minutes from where we live, so I have already contacted that family and we will probably get the two pups, who are sisters, together for walks from time to time.

Back home for a lazy Sunday, it is fun having all the boys home again and Thomas is especially loving the company of his older brothers once again. However...Luke is about to go to the airport as he is going to Lisbon with Meriel for a 5 day holiday.
