Bamberg Old Rathaus

This historic structure is in the town of Bamberg as we continue our journey east.  We had spent the morning in Freudburg climbing up to the castle - hundreds of steps and we could only see the exterior when we made it to the top!  We had great views of the town below including the site where we had been parked for the night beside the River Main - our motorhome is the first one on the right.

We left Feudenburg and moved on, deciding Bamburg as our destination.  Luckily we were able to park on a site in the town within walking distance along the canal to the old centre - it's a popular place and several vans came along later but there was no space.  The old Rathaus is built on a bridge and decorated very ornately so very popular with tourists. The whole area is dominated by bicycles and everyone seems to cycle as their preferred choice of transport.  We would like to have bikes with us but it would mean training Pepper to ride in a trailer pulled behind - not sure that would work.
