Legacy Garden

Left home at 09:30 this morning for the long journey south. Arrived in Milton Keynes at 16:00. It's one train from Edinburgh but it takes five hours.

Lyn and I are here on our annual visit and to attend the conference of the Social History of Learning Disability Research Group. It's a big one this year - 25 years since this pioneering group held its first conference. We are so happy to be here but also slightly anxious because we are speaking tomorrow. We know we'll be among friends but still.

It's really hot here so once we got ourselves settled (and some unexpected hassle with our room resolved) we set off for a walk. The campus grounds of the Open University are always beautifully kept. This is the Legacy Garden, created from the original walled garden of the Walton Estate. It is a delight. So many butterflies, bees, damsel and hover flies. Just gorgeous.
