Warming Up!

A lazyish start to the day today, before driving over to Wigan this afternoon to watch The Warriors play Wakefield Trinity. We don't get to many home matches due to work commitments and the misfortune of the team we support (preordained at birth I believe!) being one of the furthest from where we actually live!

I do love the energy of "us v them" solidarity on enemy soil at away matches, but it's wonderful to get to some home fixtures too. Rugby league is not like football where there is often genuine hostility between fans - it is more a sense of rivalry, particularly if it's a close neighbour.

We weren't playing a close neighbour last night - our opponents were Wakefield, and it being a Thursday night game with a 7:45 PM kick-off, they did not bring many supporters!

Wigan played well - especially in the first half, racking up a 34 - 0 lead by half time! They eased up a bit after half time, but still did enough to eventually win by 46 - 16. Liam Farrell, back to camera in my thumbnail scored a hat-trick, and was Man-of the Match! He's a distant cousin of former Wigan great, Andy Farrell who apparently went on to do rather well for himself in Rugby's other code after retiring from League!
