My topsy-turvy life

SALAD! SALAD!

Shrews 0 Villa 1
Pre-season friendly

When I noticed that Shrewsbury were playing Villa pre-season I asked Mike if he fancied coming up to watch it, which he duly did.

Shrewsbury played quite well, especially in the first 15-20 minutes and Villa's Premier League pedigree only really came through in the speed they were able to move the ball accross the pitch but as the match progressed Shrewsbury were forced further and further back. Albeit without Villa really threatening to score, their only attacking plan seemed to be to give it to Jack Grealish to shimmy, posture and run into a dead end. Shrewsbury probably had the clearer chances, including this header that was about to sail over the crossbar, but again didn't seem likely to actually put the ball in the back of the net.
Villa probably ultimately got more out of the game as they were at least trying different approaches whereas Shrews huffed and puffed a little against quality opposition.

The biggest -non- revelation? Jack Grealish is still an arrogant cockwomble who likes rolling around on the floor. Who'd have thought it.
