Restrictions

After a slap up brunch with LD and D and waving them goodbye, we visited Birmingham Botanical Gardens. A lovely family place with picnics and interesting glasshouse on a fairly small site.

The National Bonsai Collection is held here. They are truly beautiful, but there's something very sad about the way they are produced that don't reflect the inner peace and harmony that they are supposed to portray. Maybe I overthink things too much! I thought the way the majority were under lock and key in their gilded cages was also rather telling, although, of course, it's a very valuable collection and it's only being pragmatic.

I definitely reflect too much on things!

We collected Poppydog from her overnight stay with friends. She'd apparently just walked through the railings in their 'secure' garden and gave them a bit of a fright! I think their own Springer could jump them if she wanted to!

Back to watch the final few victory holes for Shane Lowry in The Open.   What an extraordinary atmosphere and such an emotional milestone.
