Signs of Summer

Like most of northern Europe we are currently enjoying something of a heatwave. The temperature reached 30°C in our garden today, with similar promised tomorrow.
30°C is definitely too hot to work on the roof so I spent the afternoon working in the Red House, removing wooden panelling in the kitchen because the "new" cooker is 3 or 4 mm wider than the old one, despite being, theoretically, the same width! I eventually slid it into place but I don't think it's going to work and more sweat will be required, probably next week when the temperature is going to be around 16°C.
I'd put the hammock up yesterday for some relaxed reading that never happened, and Jan put up the sail today, to provide shade on the lawn. It was nice to sit in the shade reading, once I finished the work in the kitchen. As things cooled down a little I moved to the hammock and read some more. I do like a bit of sun!
