The Descent

I started my day with a run.  It was hot, and my run was steep and thankfully short – probably about 5k.  I was very glad to get back home to cool off.  It was lovely to then have breakfast in the sun.

TT had already made a plan for the day, which involved walking along the coastal path to Beer for lunch.  The ascent was very steep and was a killer in the heat, but once we were on top of the cliffs it was fine and it was a lovely walk.  Beer is a lovely village and was quite busy.  We had hoped to sit outside somewhere but places were all take,  Instead TT decided he would have a pint of beer in the Barrel of Beer, in Beer.  BB was delighted with his lunch and with the choice of sporting events he could watch – cricket or tennis.

We came back along the lower cliff path, which was jungle like, but the cliffs also made it feel like you were in a canyon.  We had ice creams when we got back to Branscombe at the beach café and then wandered home for a gin and tonic and I started my holiday reading.

Later TT and I started watching series 5 of Line of Duty – at last!

Here are the boys as they begin the descent to the Hooken undercliff. The extra is looking up at the cliffs.
