A little night music

Last night we visited the Royal Albert Hall for a BBC Prom concert - the John Wilson Orchestra, Maida Vale singers and soloists performing music and songs from the Warner Brothers studio catalogue. Brilliant stuff. Fascinating watching all the TV cameras in action, it was recorded for almost (half an hour delay) live transmission. We will be watching it all over again on iPlayer.

Tonight, a second Prom - the Philharmonia Orchestra. Totally different (Brahms, Richard Strauss, Bruckner). We’ve enjoyed that too.

In between times, we’ve been tourists, not something we often do in London. We visited the Queens Gallery to see all the Leonardo da Vinci drawings. And whilst we were at Buckingham Palace we took in the State Apartments (as it is the bicentenary of her birth, there is a good exhibition on Victoria) and the Royal Mews. Two extras - a head portrait of a striking Windsor Grey. And the rear of the coronation coach, originally built for George III. The Queen has a surprising number of coaches.
