Sauerland, day 1

After picking up my parents in Stadskanaal, we set course to Germany, Sauerland.
For the next 5 days we'll be on a family trip with the 8 of us, in Grafschaft-Schmallenberg, Sauerland.

After a three and a half hour drive (no stops) we arrived at our hotel. We've been here last year also, so everything immediately felt familiar.

The manager on duty, mister Roy Swartjes, gave us a very warm welcome. Standing in the lobby with his arms wide open. My parents felt at home right away. He knows my parents quite well because they've been coming here for years now.

We had a lunch and after that we had to wait for our rooms to be ready. Unfortunately that took quite a while. My parents (both way over 80) missed their afternoon nap because of it.

Anyway, we finally got our keys, freshed up and rested for a bit. Our rooms are huge and beautiful.
After dinner Peter, my father and I, went on a short photo shoot. We didn't drive far and parked at a nice and quiet spot. I got my drone up and flew around for a while. The light was great and I think I managed to get some very nice shots.

It's the 4th country I'm flying in, so I'm starting to feel like an international pilot by now. (Scotland, France, Germany and The Netherlands of course)

We ended the day with a drink in the bar and around 23.00 we all went to bed.

All and all a nice first day of the trip We're off to a great start!
