Dear Diary,

I love it when Gaylord poses like this, with a paw neatly tucked up.  He is contemplating his kingdom.  I have noticed that lately he is challenged often by Squirrel Nutkin and Whiskers.  I think the old guy is feeling his age.  This is his sixth summer.  Still, he manages to get his share of the seeds and peanuts and I so enjoy his visits.  The garden is struggling along but perhaps a bit of rain late today and tonight.  Fingers crossed.
