Quod oculus meus videt

Wedding Week - Preparations

The wedding is taking place in a small rural barn complex.  It is pretty much a blank canvas, they provide the furniture but the wedding party dresses the room and lays out the tables for the big day.  It was an opportunity for members of both families to work together, grandmothers, mothers, brothers and friends to make the day special.

That included wrapping Grasmere Gingerbread with twine, arranging flowers in small jars and rearranging the tables to suit the room.  As we sit around at 9 pm on the eve of the wedding, the bride is still preparing presents for her guests, the groom has retired to the local pub and the some of the other members of the wedding party are going over their speeches.

It’s a marvellous experience to be involved in the build up to the big day.
