MR. HCB'S "NEW TOY"

The grass is long and very wet after a heavy dew, but Mr. HCB wanted to get out there with his "new toy" to see how it worked - so I decided to make him my Blip today.

We already have a Green Works lawn mower, which has a hefty battery, but it’s not as manoeuvrable as our old one, because it is heavier, so Mr. HCB has been looking for a strimmer to cut the edges of the lawn.  It’s my fault, because I trimmed the edges and part of the grass a few weeks ago, and Mr. HCB said how much easier it was to mow the lawn.

After we had been out on Saturday, we called into the local store where we bought the lawn mower about a year ago and Mr. HCB asked about a strimmer.  He asked the price but was told that the battery was £100 extra - then he asked if it would take the same battery as the lawn mower, and was delighted to learn it would - so it was duly ordered.  He collected it yesterday afternoon, but decided not to try it out then but to wait until this morning.

He was out bright and early this morning although the grass was very wet, and had a little play.  You may remember we have been leaving our grass longer for the benefit of the pollinators, but it is looking rather scruffy now, so a good cut and strim will make it look neat and tidy.

I have just come back from meeting a friend in Cirencester and the grass now looks very good - but Mr. HCB is “cream crackered” - said he hasn’t stopped since I went out earlier this morning.  It’s a hard life being retired.

Another quote that could have been said by Mr. HCB or written for him!

"Working in the garden . . .
     gives me a profound feeling of inner peace.
Nothing here is in a hurry.
     There is no rush toward accomplishment,
          no blowing of trumpets.
Here is the great mystery of life and growth;
     everything is changing, growing,
          aiming at something, but silently,
               unboastfully, taking its time."

perhaps Mr. HCB should read this!!
