Words and books

To Charlotte Square unrested but awake. Started with Kenneth Calman (famous even before he became Susan's dad) being interviewed by Brian Taylor. You could see where Susan got her comic timing. Then a seat in the sun with a scone to catch up on some calls, emails and a book.

A walk to Tollcross and then home for a wee break before back to the Square for a great discussion between the wonderful Mariella Frostrup and Lois Pryce about Wild Women, lone women travellers. I can relate to that. I had to leave early to skip over to the Spiegeltent for True Crime and Gin Tasting. Great combination!

I wandered round the revelation that is bookshop tent and bought 3 books - Fire Islands, Indonesian cookery (close enough to Malay, Jing-Jing Lee's book and Max Hastings on Vietnam (War). There were some great Scottish cards on sale too, some by ex-blipper, Stewart Bremner. (Cheaper online!). Yes, the nights are fair drawin' in.

It turned wet and chilly today but the forecast is better. Home for a very late dinner then bed.
