N to S Hemisphere

As I set off from Cambridge the taxi driver saw me humping a great lummocking rucksack whilst reading the name of the organisation (which contains the words fauna and flora) on his control panel, and was suitably intrigued.

‘So where is it you’re based then, somewhere exotic?’

‘Yeah. Mozambique.’

‘You can’t get any more exotic than that.’

It was a good reminder that despite the unrelenting spinning plates and a feeling of being overwhelmed with grants, deadlines and commitments, I’m extremely happy to be in Mozambique. What a privilege to be working on conservation issues in such a place.

Cambridge in late summer is always a good place to be, but I’m happy to be flipping back to the Southern Hemisphere today.
