Never mined

A long meander all afternoon around Maputo with my friend Luís. We racked up a number of kilometres and enjoyed the temperatures lodged somewhere between sweat-inducing and comfortable t-shirt weather.

I avoided too much work in the evening but had been reminded to review an interesting proposal that crossed my desk. An abandoned munitions site in the suburbs of Maputo is being prepared for de-mining and transformation into an ecological park for visitors. This is a cool idea if it can happen and would serve as a hub for environmental education in the country. I’m going to raise it in some meetings this week and see if I can get any traction amongst partners.
