The Rotunda

built in 1873, is on the same site as Oldway Mansion. It's a beautiful red brick circular structure as the name suggests. It was originally used as a horse riding pavilion and exercise area. Very grand!  I'd love to look inside, although I have a feeling I'd be disappointed. There was so much attention to detail all around the building, the detail in the blip is above the double height double doors, but there is more, much more. It's a feast of architectural features. I sincerely hope Torbay Council get their grant & make a good job of restoring the buildings.

Walked Millie earlier today as I have to drop hubby off at the garage then do some gardening at George & Jeans, but first nip back home to drop off provisions to keep hubby fed while I'm away.
3 hours gardening at G&J's, shot across to Mum's with milk, then back to Torquay. Freshly cooked beetroot sarnie for lunch, not keen on the seeded sourdough, not even toasted. :( Beetroot is great though.
Millie & I walk  to see Nicky, a friend who lives just around the corner. She's got a glut of tomatoes so I'm taking some off her hands to help her out, not sure what I'm going to do with them, but they look tasty. She'd made a blackcurrant tray bake, a new recipe, that she was hoping to take to Hyde Park tomorrow, she's singing in a choir performing as part of the Last Night at the Proms. Sounds like it's going to be great, the weather forecast is favourable. Unfortunately the blackcurrant traybake did'nt cut well, fell to bits, great with a gert big dollop of clotted cream but not ideal for packing with your sarnies. We enjoyed a coffee in the sunshine, discussed food, lemon posset v sylabub v pannacotta v cheesecake. All things botanical. New kitchens, the lack of cupboards in new kitchens.
Hubby rang. Repairs cost £50. I'm sure it could have been far more, so relieved. Hopefully there will no more hiccups.

Dinner tonight - Smoked trout, beetroot, & apple salad with a dill, yogurt & horseradish dressing.
