Climate - Emergency

I did not take this photo, it came from #1 son this morning.  No, he is not auditioning for a part in a Marvel movie, he is showing me he has had to shave off his beard to ensure his face mask fits snugly. He needs the mask because of the 'haze', the terrible air pollution enveloping parts of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia caused by the 'wild fires' in Indonesia. You can see real time air pollution levels in Malaysia here caused by the burning off of jungle, rainforest and peat lands to plant mainly palm oil. If you've followed my diary over the years you'll remember I suffered when I was there in September 2015.  But the effects seem to have been worse this year, possibly because the particles are smaller.  Schools were closed at the end of last week, people have died and even #1 son, who has no problems with his lungs, finds breathing outside hard.  It is choking and irritating to lungs and eyes.  I was going to blip early morning equinox light over East Lothian but on the day an angry Greta Thunberg addressed the UN this seemed more fitting.  It is a sign of our times.

Me, well I got a minor fault in the car fixed and then, as the sun had returned, had a saunter with mum after savouring the delights of 'Cook'.   A trip out to the Secret Herb Garden for coffee al fresco and then a wee bit of retail therapy in Sainsbury's and M&S. That's mum's freezer stocked she goes on holiday next week.

Home to report a loss and do some prep for the rest of the week. Down south political chaos continues.  It was never like this when I was a Politics student way back in the 70's!
