An ordinary life....

Lazy Sunday...

Backblipped

The vast majority of people of the Western Isles still hold Sundays sacred.  Shops, restaurants, pubs, petrol stations etc are closed (there are some exceptions but very few) and it's not that long ago that even the ferries didn't sail on a Sunday (they now do) and woe betide anyone who hangs out a washing on a Sunday.  It's just not done!

We decided to take advantage of the quiet day and have a lazy day ourselves.  No alarm set, no set plan and no rushing to be anywhere.

When we finally got up we had cooked breakfast and after discussing loose plans for places we want to visit whilst we're here, we decided to head out for a run in the car and just see where we ended up.

We ended up following the road north east to North Tolsta and onwards to the Bridge to Nowhere and Garry Beach (pics two and three in extras, the first beach shot is North Tolsta beach)

Both second two locations feature in Peter May's The Lewis Trilogy all of which I immensely enjoyed reading a few months ago, and will read again now I have seen where they are set (I also read The Coffin Road, which is fantastic too.)  I have to say his descriptions in the book are excellent because all the locations I have seen so far have been virtually spot on to how I imagined them.

Once back in Stornoway we had a late dinner and caught up with Strictly.  What can I say about that other than Kelvin!  Wow!

Yesterday - Quiraing, Uig Harbour, Dailbeag beach
