Gorgeous beaches

Backblip Day 5
Still very windy but mainly dry.A lovely rainbow spread across the sky in front of the mill.
After boiled eggs for breakfast with a bannock we went to the little store in Deerness to get some washing powder. As we drove up a Farmer was getting out of his car, opened his boot and started taking in some lovely, fresh vegetables so we could not resist and ended up with a cauliflower, carrots and broccoli all grown just down the road. We bought two local steak pies too so dinner solved for tonight.
First beach walk was at Newark beach. A beautiful, white sandy beach with lots of shells to collect.lots of birds around including lots of wagtails, ringed plovers, turnstones, starlings and sanderlings.Still some good waves and the colour of the water was amazing.one little seal popped up to say hello.
Next stop was Dingieshowe beach, another golden beach with turquoise sea.Bigger waves here.We saw a Hen Harrier fly over a nearby field.Lots of wagtails. We sat on the rocks and it felt quite warm and very relaxing.
We were feeling peckish by now so went to the fantastic Shelia Fleets converted chapel cafe. We were luck to get a seat as it was busy.Shelia Fleet was sitting on the table next to us.
I had Hasselback potatoes with Orkney cheese and bacon, delicious and I managed to eat the whole lot, it was a big plate full.
We looked at the jewellery, I have several pieces already, but did not buy anything this time. Some lovely crafts upstairs too.
Our next walk was down to the old wartime buildings at Rerwick.A VERY windy walk , certainly blew the cobwebs away. Another rainbow at the end of our walk.
A gorgeous sunset after our pie dinner. Had to keep popping outside while I was cooking as the sky kept getting better :)
