Water Lily in the Rain

It has not rained a lot around here lately. In fact, compared to last year, we had a rather dry summer. But rain moved in on Sunday and continued into Monday. And when I went to a meeting on campus on Monday afternoon, a light drizzle turned into more of a pouring rain.

I stopped by the lily pond after my meeting anyway, as it is gorgeous in any kind of weather. And I took some photos of the raindrop circles on the surface, and of the water lilies that are still in bloom. This one, covered in water droplets, looked like it was using its own bloom as a jacket, or maybe as an umbrella, against the rain.

The soundtrack song is a favorite tune. Here are Bruce Hornsby and the Range, with Mandolin Rain.
