On Campus on a Sunny October Afternoon

On a sunny October afternoon, you can see paradise from here. You can see it in the blue blue skies, and in the orange leaves that hang, and then flutter, and fall. You can feel it in the breeze, which is just enough but not too much: a gentle caress, tender and kind enough to make you smile at everyone passing by.

I will warn you: if you ever come here, to beautiful central Pennsylvania on a lovely October afternoon, you will leave your other life behind and camp out beneath that tree, and worship its beauty, and sing songs of its glory, until all of the leaves are gone, long gone. And then later, you will sigh to remember how happy you were on this sunny October afternoon.

My soundtrack tune is U2, with Gloria, from the album October. This performance, recorded live at Red Rocks, is one of their very best.
