Trojan Horse

Try to see this brilliant production by LUNG theatre company. It is on tour after a successful time in Edinburgh. There are several northern venues before it is performed in the Houses of Parliament and in a community centre in Birmingham.

Trojan Horse was a government inquiry into claims that some Muslim schools were radicalising pupils. This review says it all in a few words.

My blip is at the end of the lively post show discussion and unfortunately caught the expert witness looking bored. He was very informative.

The way the inquiry ended abruptly is a scandal. It was reported as ending on "a technicality" and meant that none of the evidence about the teachers was spoken. Their careers were destroyed. The community still bears the scars.

This way of dealing with things reminds me of when The Black Report on social inequalities in health was published. The government chose to publish it on an August Bank Holiday Monday to try to lessen the impact.

I love the Live Theatre. Most of the audience are in their 20s and 30s. A group of teenagers were in tonight with a teacher. It was fascinating that nearly everyone at the performance was white, although the text was available to listen to in Urdu.

During the morning there was excitement outside our house. A white car was parked in such a way that the bus was unable to squeeze past. The bus driver had a good go.... but thankfully decided to stop before scraping the cars on either side of his vehicle.

The miscreant turned out to be a friend of ours, who was visiting Margret (next door).

I had a short walk to deliver a couple of cards, but Arth is still swollen and unhappy.

I had a great scarecrow to show you too....perhaps another day.
