Marjorie's ramblings

One to show to the folks back home!

Anne and I became friends when I was a GP in Skelton in Cleveland. She has lived in Salt Lake City for many years and is visiting the UK. She was able to include a visit to Northumberland.

We tried to work out how many years it is since we saw each other, but we failed. I moved from general practice to take up psychiatry in the late 1980s, so it may well have been then.

Today we have talked and talked and talked. It's been wonderful. We also had a short Face Time session with Anne's son, James. I've known him since before he was born.

Anne's memory is amazing. She remembers that I phoned her from the surgery to tell her that she was pregnant. She also remembers that I tried to get her to lose weight and admonished her when she put more on. (That can't be correct, can it?!)

We spent time in Hexham Abbey, where we found a small pleated skirt hung over a door. It turns out it was blocking the light from the fire exit sign which can be distracting............ (no comment). We laughed a lot.

We drove to Hadrian's Wall and sampled the beer at Twice Brewed.

Here we are at Steel Rigg. It was a perfect day for clear views.

Tonight we have talked and eaten and continued to enjoy each other's company.
