Life in Sunny Dubai

I have four minutes to try to type this before the clock turns over to the last day of the month!

We went out this evening - to watch Downton Abbey for the second time. It was really to take friend Shabnam to watch it - a promise I made to her in July. Today we caught the last show. Unfortunately, Shabnam herself was late and missed the first twenty minutes. She got caught in exhibition traffic at work!

We then had dinner at a Chinese restaurant close to the cinema called Din Tai Fung, and I got to experience a first in Dubai... we had to queue to get in! Thirty-five minutes we were told, but in reality, we only waited around twenty. I was intrigued. What does this restaurant do that makes them so popular. The two restaurants on either side didn't have the same demand.

And following that, we did another first - this time at the Magnum kiosk. We created our own Magnum ice creams! It was fun, but I won't be needing another one for a long time!

In the morning, I dropped G at work via Sunrise Beach which she liked. She'd like to give it a go, time permitting :)  I went to The Mall but tried a different restaurant. Azerbaijan House overlooks Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel and it cost less to have a cup of tea there!

Today is the penultimate day of BCAM and I often do a progress report of G's cancer journey. She had a follow-up appointment with her oncologist earlier in the month. All well there and nothing to report - it' been seven years. She was given a list of scans to do - all routine and just markers to record how things are at the moment in case anything happens later. Her check-ups are down to twice a year, so nothing needs to be done until February. Her energy levels are great - I think she swallowed a box of Eveready batteries, and she still abounds with motivation and things she wants to do.

She is thrilled and encouraged that the penny has dropped with the kids she's been supporting in school. It's been worth her time and effort. Now she's just got to knock those Awana kids into shape :D  God has been very very GOOD! :D

It's twenty-five minutes into 31st October and I am falling asleep over my keyboard. Would you please click on this link to help towards free mammograms? Thank you!
