Life's Little Moments

In a Frenzy

That would describe the chipmunk situation in our garden at the moment.  As I sat on the patio, camera in hand, there were chippies racing all around me.  Fights would erupt, filling the air with angry chips and a ball of furry ferocity tumbling around before splitting into two chipmunks, both equally irritated enraged.  And in between, blue jays could be seen diving in, trying to grab a peanut before being spotted by the chipmunks.  It's actually funny how spooked the jays are by the chippies when you consider that the jays are roughly twice as large.

Perhaps I'm just easily amused, but I find chipmunks endlessly entertaining.  And very soon they'll be tucked into their dens for the winter, leaving only the much larger squirrels to maintain the rodent entertainment.

I ordered a new critter-cam which arrived today.  I want to set it up to see what is getting into the new feeder every night.  Every morning, I find what I think is some sort of scat (poop) evenly deposited all over the metal tray part of the feeder.  Last night, I switched on the back light and saw a fairly large opossum in the feeder, but I'm not convinced that is what is leaving the ...whatever it is.  So, tonight, hopefully the new camera will capture footage of whatever is coming and going (literally).  Stay tuned to this space...

Hubs' say thanks for all the birthday wishes.  His meatballs, by the way, were incredible.  Having leftovers tonight - can't wait.
