First snow of the winter!

After a frosty spell at the beginning of December our weather turned extremely mild - and wet but we woke this morning to a light covering of snow (slightly more at the top of the hill than down here in the garden). So I took advantage of the photo opportunity when I went to collect the paper this morning. The lambs that have just been born locally (not in this field) must be feeling the cold today!

The day brightened soon after I took my photos and the sun came out, went in again and then shone for our walk at Cannon Hall. There were hundreds of Canada Geese feeding in the very wet and soggy field that runs down to the lake. My guess would be that the farmer would be happy to see them migrate to pastures new as the weather warms.

We've now got Mum settled in again for a few days stay but not Jimmy. Apparently he's not been too good overnight so we're waiting for another phone call from his Mum to see how he is. The fire is lovely and toasty warm so we're all settled down to take it easy this afternoon. More snow is forecast for overnight.
