Into A Corner

My viewfinder looked amazingly bright when I came across this cluster of ash (I think) leaves blown into the reeds and held in place by ice. It was late in the afternoon, dull, overcast and windless.

I could afford the narrow aperture keeping the balls of ice in focus towards the back of the frame. I don't know why they form around the base of the reeds, maybe to do with oxygen rising? But it was the leaves that caught my attention, something about the crispness and detail, mainly light with splashes of colour.

The narrow aperture and low light led to a rather long exposure.
