A day in the life

This evening Eva and me did a concert at one of the old peoples home in Smedby, on the mainland. We chose three poets from the first half of the 19hundreds, Nils Ferlin, Gustaf Fröding and Dan Andersson. Eva reads some poems, that's what she is good at, I play and sing some of their poems that are put to music.

The people living here are really old and in need of constant help, otherwise you don't get to live here. Some suffers (maybe) from dementia, some has a body that doesn't quite work but are otherwise clear in their heads. I compare a concert like this to playing for young children, you immediately get to know if they like it or not. Tonight we were fortunate in our choice of music and poetry, and audience. They really liked it, at least the people who said something. Nobody left the room and the staff said it went down really well.

Eva and me had a lovely time doing it, hopefully we can re-use our concept in other places as well. I really like playing for old people. The amount of life experience and gratitude is something of its own and meeting them is so rewarding.
