Forest Ranger

Another cloudy, wet day in the mountains but it didn’t really bother me. I didn’t need it to be sunny to relax and chat here and there with strangers. I was wandering around the area at the top of the park when I struck up a conversation with a gentleman loading his hiking gear. Turned out he was a Federal Ranger working in forest management. He showed me a really neat lightweight tool he would be using to clear a section of trail. I took this photo as he vanished up the mountain.

Back to reality on Thanksgiving Day. I met a bunch of people who live up here either working for the Forest Service, owning and overseeing the cabins, lodge and casitas or keeping the B&Bs operating. I envy them.
