Present Laughter

Mum and I drive to Durham this morning so she could be measured for varifocals, or rather for one lens to be varifocal and the other to be opaque. The aim is to allow her to read and do some embroidery.

It’s a bit of a gruelling journey for her, but we got through it.

Dick came this afternoon and has been cutting back and clearing foliage from around the garden.

Tonight there was a full house at the Forum cinema for the screening of Present Laughter from the Old Vic. It was very well done and a long time since I have seen a farce. It was too loud at times with a lot of shouting. (Too much expressed emotion!)

Julie and I had a quick drink in a quiet Wetherspoons where I observed the slot machines. This one invites you to put in an extra £5. That’s how the money goes.
