FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT

I am aware that this Season of Advent won't mean the same to many people as it does to those of us who are Christians, but I hope that even those who don't believe will realise how important this time of year is to us.

We had a great service at Church this morning;  the service started with this video clip entitled "The Waiting Room" because, of course, Advent is about waiting and hoping for who and what is to come.

I know that many of our friends, Christian or not, feel that Christmas has been hi-jacked and has become very commercialised and materialistic, so it was good, during the service, to think about others and especially those who are less fortunate that us and also those in our fellowship who are going through difficult times.

The first candle of Advent was lit - my Blip today, symbolising Hope - and we certainly need that in our world today.

Be blessed as you prepare for Christmas.

I pray that God, the source of hope,
will fill you completely with joy and peace
          because you trust in him.
Then you will overflow with confident hope
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

P.S.  At the ripe old age of 73, Mr. HCB has given me my very first Advent Calendar - it's great and I'm sure I shall enjoy opening the doors - when I opened the first door, Keep Britain Tidy told me "Today you have cleared 100 pieces of litter from our beaches."
