A new angle

Benmore Gardens is officially closed over the winter - until March, if I remember correctly. We still walk there, however - with the caveat that if there's a sign up saying it's unsafe after a storm we find another walk and that if paths are closed off because of felling or clearing old trees we don't try to use them. That's what happened today, which meant that we did a fair bit of climbing up and down and ended up on a different (and rather steep) path with a different view of Glen Massan.

We didn't see another soul, which is perhaps why the squirrel we saw at the end of our walk got so ratty. He was perched on top of a nesting box when he caught sight of us and began to make a cross chirruping sound which he kept up for quite a time as he scampered about ever smaller branches - not trying to escape, for they brought him closer to me. Perhaps he was after the berries above my head? We left him to it anyway.

As I write this blip, the last sun is illuminating Dunoon's East Bay in a distracting manner - it looks amazing against a slate sea and sky. But I'm not taking any more photos today...
