SILLY SATURDAY - TREE CLIMBING

Hello Lovely Blippers

I had to get up and get going this morning, because Mrs. HCB was still in bed at 8.45 - mind you, she has been very tired lately looking after her Mum, so I let her lie in.

Three of my friends came over and we looked around for an adventure - and when we saw their Christmas tree, we knew we had to climb it.  The HCBs don’t have a posh Christmas tree, but one with all sorts of baubles on it that obviously mean something to them - and as far as I’m concerned, that’s how it should be.  I do know that some people throw out their decorations every year and buy new ones, but how does that help the planet?

I was very surprised that my three friends managed to get almost to the top of the tree - but it was quite prickly, so I didn’t go quite as far up as they did.  However, I think they were all surprised when they got near the top to find that they were beaten there by a very old angel - I believe this was made by their older son, Martyn, when he was about 5 years old - so of course, it is carefully preserved and brought out every year to grace the top of the tree.  Christmas traditions are wonderful and in difficult times in our lives and in the world we live in, it’s good to be able to fall back on those things that have special meanings for us.

You all know that Mrs. HCB was given a lovely Advent Calendar by Mr. HCB this year, and under Door 14 for the Gorilla Organization it says, “Today you have given emergency rations to a ranger protecting the lives of endangered gorillas in Africa.”  It’s good to know that people are willing and prepared to do something to help these lovely gorillas in our world before they become extinct.

With love to you all this Christmas,

J H Ted and friends

only the one Christmas you decide to make
as a reflection of your values,
               desires, affections, traditions."
Bill McKibben

P.S.  I know that Mrs. HCB was delighted with all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for her moon shot yesterday - and the good wishes for her Mum - in fact, halfway through this, she had to dash over to her Mum’s to make sure she was all right when someone called and couldn’t get a response.  Her Mum was OK - just sleeping - but please forgive Mrs. HCB if she doesn’t comment much.
