Nicky and her Nikon

Snow!

It was an early start this morning, I was up at 4.30am for our 7am flight to Zurich. Gavin and my brother had left with Xena in the car at 3am this morning to drive to Switzerland. Sadly we said goodbye to Lynn as we were dropped off at T5 at the airport and the taxi continued to take her to T2 for her flight back to Johannesburg later today.

We had planned to hire a car at Zurich to drive to the mountains but knowing that today was going to be snowing with poor visibility we cancelled the car hire as I preferred to travel by train. The train ride was so pleasant and I could relax and read my book rather than driving through the snow. I have added an extra of one of the trains arriving in the snow - of course snow makes no difference here to the running of trains or their precise timetable, unlike the UK!

When we arrived in the village it was snowing quite heavily, and we went straight to a local cafe for some lunch as we were all starving. After lunch we bought a few things at the supermarket - it's not easy to shop dragging suitcases around with you! Then we got a taxi up the hill to the apartment, we usually walk but not when it is snowing and dragging suitcases. It snowed all afternoon but when Gavin arrived at 5pm it finally stopped.

After unpacking he car Gavin took Xena out for her first walk in the snow, and like all dogs she loved it, going crazy running around in it. She also wore her coat for the first time but I don't think the cold actually bothered her much.

Tomorrow....sunshine again!
