Tourists in Braga

From Braga, you look up and see the church of Bom Jesus do Monte; this afternoon, we drove up to it, then walked up a massive staircase, past chapels with lifesize figures of the stations of the cross, till this point, and then up the steps you see, almost 600 of them, to the church at the top, past more chapels and fountains depicting each of the senses, for instance, the seeing one had water shooting out of the eyes. And then down again. And then to an even higher church... where I stayed in the car, while the others did even more climbing.

This morning, had a Blipmeet with youoregon and his wife, in A Brasileira, but were so busy talking, forgot to take a photo - can you believe it?! Have put one of this emblematic Braga coffee shop, opened in 1907, by a Portuguese man who'd made his fortune in coffee in Brazil, in extras.

Racing off again now to meet up with the others for dinner...will come back with gratefuls later...

Gratefuls:
- the privilege of being tourists in Portugal with Portuguese friends
- the different beauty of Braga, good to see, but glad I live where I do
- the ambience of old cafés, went to an even older one on the main square, Café Vianna, founded in 1858
