Look closely to see the cars going over Swarkestone Bridge as we stopped to eat lunch. I know people who will take a long detour to avoid driving over this bridge.  It's certainly narrow with a few kinks in it, and you have to be careful, but I don't think it's worth avoiding. It was rather muddy on this bit of our walk... not surprisingly as the bridge and causeway were built to cross the Trent floodplain!
