A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW

A nice quiet morning at home, then lunch at The Pheasant Inn in Allithwaite.  This was a belated Christmas cum New Year's lunch for "The Friends of Kents Bank Station".  Hubby belongs to this, which means volunteering to keep the Station nice and tidy.  It is a lovely little station so well worth the effort.

Of course with Northern possibly going to lose it's franchise not sure how this will be supported in the future but let's hope it stays open as a station as it is so much needed for this area and means we can just walk down the road to get a train to Lancaster or Barrow and beyond.  It is also very well used.  I would use it a lot more even if the trains were reliable.

Anyway it was a lovely lunch and we were all sat in the Conservatory.  This is actually shot through the window by my chair and is what I had to look at whilst eating delicious food!!!!!! Well someone has to do it.

The view is still of Morecambe in the distance, across the fields from Allithwaite and over Morecambe Bay.  You can also see the start or Humphrey Head to the very right of the photo - can't see all of it to get a great shot, which is a shame.

Humphrey Head is a limestone outcrop situated south of the village of Allithwaite. It is whale-back-shaped and accessible for walkers, giving views over Morecambe Bay to Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and over the Leven estuary to Ulverston. There is an Ordnance Survey trig point at the top.

I've never actually made the walk onto Humphrey Head yet because the one time we tried we couldn't get parked, must try again though.

Got a busy weekend coming up - going out for another meal tomorrow to celebrate several birthdays from the Thursday Club that Hubby belongs (his drinking buddies),

Then on Sunday to see the film Downton Abbey at Grange Victoria Hall.

Phew can't cope with this jet setting lifestyle!!!!!
