An ordinary life....

Happy International Golden Retrievers Day...

So...to continue from yesterday.

Lola and D both had a settled night on the sofas together but soon after waking up she started doing the hard swallow thing again.  Phoned our own Vet (it was a local emergency vet we spoke to last night) and she said to take her in to be examined at midday.

This was reassuring but it did put the kibosh on my planned lunch with fellow Blipper Helpix (sorry again H) as our Vet is in Glasgow.

I wondered how Lola would react when she got there as her last visit was to be spayed.  She was absolutely fine thank goodness, her usual friendly self.  The receptionist fell completely in love with her and couldn't get any work done for cuddling her then gazing at her and chatting to her.

Vet did a thorough examination of her mouth and throat and all the other usual checks and concluded she has a mild case of kennel cough, even though she's not coughing.  Swallowing can be a symptom.  I didn't know that.  No medication required unless she produces mucous, in which case they will re-check her and maybe prescribe something.  She came home bright as a button.

When she started doing the swallowing thing last night I was convinced she had something stuck in her throat or soft palate (she was still able to eat and drink and scoffed her dinner last night) and when the Vet checked her mouth and throat, she coughed hard a couple of times (the only time she has coughed) and hasn't swallowed hard since so I actually think my theory is correct as she has no other symptom of Kennel Cough.  Of course we will keep her away from other dogs for the recommended time just in case.

Anyway, all that aside, she was definitely well enough to pose nicely for me to get a photo to celebrate International Golden Retrievers Day :-)))

In other news,  I am trying to organise a get together with a group of friends.  There are six of us and despite suggesting three Saturdays in March, all the Saturdays in April and two Saturdays in May, we can't find a single one to suit all of us!  Back to the drawing board.
