Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

In the City

I was thinking about how different the two places we live are, in terms of trying to simplify our lives.  We weren’t really ready to leave the island yesterday..but we did, at 8:00 am to arrive home in Seattle at 3:30 (Included the longer ferry which we like for the time of day and also the transition, and before we hit our garage, we bought gas, a few groceries and stopped at the library)   Then we had basketball in the south part of Seattle (more driving. but wouldn’t miss it! )   Today we relaxed and had a nice walk, always thinking it’s so much more pleasant and mindful to walk in our mossy woods at the island and not wanting to do anything but walk out the door here in the city, where construction looms at every corner.  BUT…. I saw more ducks here on Lake Union than I did all week on the island..(these are American Coots and American Wigeons, often seen wintering together and bottom feeding. (the wigeons will steal food from the coots if theirs is scarce)…  and there are lovely signs of spring here (messed just a little on my other journal) …my daffodils on the island have not yet thought about blooming.

This is all good.  Just have to guard against doing too much in the city and savor what’s important.

(added a basketball flickr set to yesterday's if you need more bball. :-)
