Campbell’s Covered Bridge

I left Wisconsin at 6:30 this morning & the plane arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina 45 minutes ahead of schedule! Must have been one heck of a tail wind! I walked to the pick-up area, texted fellow blipper & friend MaryElizaR (who had just gotten to the cell phone lot) & was picked up in about 2 minutes. Smooth as could be! After breakfast we drove to Kings Mountain and walked the trail there—it’s the site of a decisive battle between the Patriots and the English forces during the Revolutionary War. We did a random stop at an orchard of peach trees that were just coming into bloom—first time I’ve ever seen peach trees. We checked in at our B&B, where our hostess gave us a tour of her beautiful home, built in 1903. Headed out to dinner, then drove to see the last covered bridge in South Carolina; Campbell’s Bridge (my blip for today). It was built in 1909 & is named after the man who owned and operated a grist mill there for many years. (I’m going to turn off my comments while I’m gone as I’m already behind with them & feel bad if I don’t answer when you take the time to leave one.). :))
