We are much amused

An afternoon at the Stoller Hall - it’s the opening of their Song Festival.

First, Britten’s St Nicholas cantata, which is just Fab. All the performers - the choirs and the orchestra - were 18 years or under bar tenor Nicky Spence and artistic director Marcus Farnsworth. A great performance. And the audience had its part to play - years since we’ve sung “all creatures that on earth do dwell”.

Then a masterclass where Nicky Spence took three young tenors - lads of 17 and 18 - through their paces. Great fun.

Before all that we had a walk around the city centre, and came across the Staffordshire “Chanteuse Chamber Choir” giving an impromptu concert in front of Old Queen Vic. They were singing “what shall we do with the drunken sailor” when I took the photo. A talented group of ladies,
