A gorgeous afternoon

A wet morning, but a wonderful afternoon!

I had to go downtown to meet a photographer from the Oban Times at MKM's showroom - she was taking a picture for next week's edition showing the two managers and a a couple of us from Keep Oban Beautiful. It was the great handover of litter pickers, gloves and bags for our Oban Spring Clean the weekend after next, probably the only event which is still going ahead. Some participants have unfortunately pulled out, but we'll do the best we can in the circumstances.

After the 'photo shoot' I drove over the hill and down to the Sound of Kerrera. Apart from a very brief shower while I was out of the car the sun shone beautifully. I drove along the coast road towards Oban and eventually stopped in a lay-by overlooking the lifeboat and the Northern Lighthouse Board's ship, Pharos. On the right you can see the Corran Halls, the Catholic Cathedral and the old Church of Scotland, with the bare Battleship Hill rising above. A lovely afternoon!

Quote of the Day:

Jan de Hartog, 'The Peaceable Kingdom' - "There are certain things that are totally evil, with which a compromise, however enlightened or reasonable or loving, is impossible. Slavery is one of them."
