Life is a Challenge!

My Friend Trevor

It was cold again today, but rather than stay indoors and be grumpy, my husband said he would take me out for a coffee - so we decided to take the car and go up into Old Town to one of our favourite haunts, The Old Bank.

Why is one of our favourites? Well, we like the waitresses, the ambience, the coffee (and sometimes the cake) and the people we meet.

Trevor is one of those people - I have known him for many years and as he is a Christian too, we often talk about our faith and how it relates to our daily life. Most of the time you will find him reading the daily paper so it is not unusual for us to talk about what is happening in the world. He always sits in the same place and when he's not there, it just doesn't seem the same!

We often chat about people we both know and those friends who need prayer. At the moment, we are praying for a mutual Christian friend who was involved in a very serious road accident on New Year's Eve, so we exchange news about him. I like to think we are "building each other up" as we chat and perhaps even motivating others as they hear us.

Meeting Trevor perhaps twice a week is always a joy and I am the richer for knowing him - we don't tend to meet socially, but our Christian faith bonds us together in a very special way - and we both enjoy chatting!

Reminds me of a verse in Philippians 4:4

Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against them. The Message
