Confined

Busy on-line working much of the day. It’s all very strange. And no time for a photo. So time to make a point with a pic.

What music best describes spending a lot of time in a confined space ? Well ........

One of my favourite composers is Benjamin Britten. 1958 saw the first performance in Orford Church, Suffolk of Noye’s Fludde, based on the medieval Chester Miracle Play. This recording was made in the same place in 1961. It’s just wonderful. Britten really does know how to use children’s voices.

The whole of the Noah family and a few friends and neighbours cooped up on one boat, shared with a pair of every animal in the world. Now, that is being seriously overcrowded in a small place.

Interesting fact. One of the cast at the premiere was a 16 year old boy called Michael Crawford. His voice had just broken. Some mothers do have ‘em.
