A time for everything

A different Easter

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
Church buildings may have been closed, but that didn’t stop Christians the world over celebrating the risen Lord. We watched and sang along with the service put out by our church, some of it recorded in people’s homes, and some in the sanctuary, then sewn together. Afterwards we were able to speak to our son who is still in Kuwait. I am just so thankful for all this modern technology which is allowing us to remain connected with our families, friends and church families during these trying times. We then got out for a brisk walk at Sharon Woods, so we could get back home to watch the live streaming of Andrea Boccelli’s “Music for Hope” concert from the empty Duomo in Milan. We had been there last summer, when it was thronged with people, and it was so strange seeing the cathedral and the square as it was today, totally empty. Some of the music was accompanied by scenes from deserted streets and sidewalks in Paris, London and New York. A powerful and moving event. Our walk presented us with some good sights - several turtles, the pair of wood ducks shown in my collage, a great blue heron flying over the water, but the most unusual and striking was an albino squirrel! Unfortunately, by the time I had my camera out, he started scampering along this downed tree, and I just couldn’t get a decent shot of him! The rest of the day we were fairly lazy, other than fixing us a roast pork dinner in the evening, with trifle for dessert.
