Birthdays

..in the age of Coronavirus.

First off, a HUGE thank you to all of you for your comments, hearts and stars on yesterday's..  What a lot of lovely messages.  So much kindness.  Each one was a gift and I still feel entirely overwhelmed.  Thank you, thank you!

So today.  It's K's birthday and has been a lovely day.  I didn't go on a specific blip walk but just carried my camera around.  The only card I could get her was pretty suspect and presents difficult, so this morning I went out early to get her flowers and then we skipped breakfast and got on with making the birthday cake.  We both enjoy baking so she wanted us to make it together.  No gf flour in the shops since lockdown, of course, so we did the River Cafe's chocolate and almond cake which is flourless.  Half quantities and it did sink in the middle, but heavens it's wonderful.  We got the giggles and Hazel was desperate to join in the tasting sessions.

So then I laid the garden table for brunch - cake, strawberries, Prosecco - took a quick shot and we sat down,  It started to rain.  We moved into the conservatory.  It stopped raining.  We had more cake and Prosecco.  You get the picture!

And afterwards we went for a short amble down by the river.  Right outside the front door, little wild blue anemones (anemone apennina) were blipped.  Also, so many arum lilies/lords and ladies (arum maculatum) around this year, and Spanish bluebells (endymion hispanicus, shot with negative space), both in Extras.  Plus the cake.

And tomorrow's Friday and we'll have lived another week of this strange existence.  Hope you're all well and holding up  xx
