Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Late harvest

With one thing and another we didn't get around to harvesting our potato sacks last autumn and as this year's seed potatoes are lying chitting in the kitchen we really do have to get a move on.
This is the second of our five bags and has presented us with a very healthy 1.8kg.
Today was a similar day to yesterday, cold but sunny, it claimed to reach 14° today, but that was only when you could get right out of the wind.
I spent some time dead heading the daffs today and generally footering about in the garden. I've also embarked on a wee project which with luck should be finished and blipped tomorrow. I'm having a bit of a strange week this week, unexpected things taking me aback. Strange times though.
Katy dropped round with some shopping today and the news that Isobel was very pleased with the letter writing set I'd bought her. I bought one for Eilidh for Christmas, thinking she was of the age, 6, when thank you letters were fun to write. Unfortunately, Isobel at 3, has, as her mum put it, difficulties with the concept of ownership. I think she is at the stage of, "what's mine is mine and so is everything else" . She has written many letters on Eilidh's paper and was upset when Eilidh wasn't pleased. She was very subdued the other night and very pleased when I asked if she would like her own set.
This evening we dropped my car down to their house. With the school holidays now over the new lockdown childcare system is kicking in and helpful though it is, it is not in the right places. As a result, both parents are going to need cars in order to drop off and pick up on time. We hardly need one car at the moment, let alone two, so they are having mine which has car seats fitted. Back home again, we watched episode 5 of series 1 of Killing Eve. Just when you think you know what is going on, you don't!!

Thanks for dropping by my journal, keep well everybody and keep safe too.
